Your degree is an investment in your future. Take time to research, plan and make decisions. This is a key to your success.

Both you and your advisor have responsibilities that must be met to make the advising process successful. These responsibilities are listed below:

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Make decisions and plans for your education
  • Learn the requirements for your degree. Read the relevant portions of the ASU General Catalog, ASU Bulletins and your Undergraduate Advising Handbook
  • Become familiar with University and College policies, procedures and deadlines
  • Select courses that compliment your interests and career plans
  • Be an active participant in the learning process
  • Satisfy requirements for your degree, and follow the policies and procedures of the University and College
  • Seek information and assistance as needed
  • Be prepared when you seek advisement

PREPARATION FOR MEETING WITH YOUR ADVISOR

  • Make a list of your questions
  • Make and bring with you a tentative class schedule if you will be discussing registration
  • Think about your academic and career goals. Bring any written academic and career plans you have made to review with your advisor
  • Bring your records of previous advising contacts and your updated Degree Audit Report (DARS)
  • Bring paper and pen to take notes and keep a record of your advising contact
  • Bring your picture ID

Directions on how to obtain a DARS:

Please bring a current copy of your DARS report with you. To obtain a copy, login at
https://www-sec.asu.edu/cgi-bin/intsite/auth.cgi.
Click the Request/View your Degree Audit (DARS) link - it may take overnight to process your request for a DARS report.


Directions on how to forward e-mail:

  • Open a web browser and type http://webmail.asu.edu/emma in the address bar
  • Type your ASURITE UserID and password in the spaces provided
  • Click the "Log In" button
  • In the left-side navigation area, click the "EPO Update" link
  • In the Destination Address text field, type the e-mail address that you would like to have your ASU e-mail sent to
  • Click the "Update" button located at the bottom of the screen
  • Click the "Log Out" button
