About two years ago I became interested in Black and Decker when two representatives from DEWALT came into my classroom. In September of 2005, I attended the Career Fiesta at ASU. This was where I found out about the information session, which was taking place in a few weeks. I attended the information session and was invited for first round interviews on campus. My experience for third round interviews with Black and Decker in Baltimore, Maryland was unforgettable. I toured Black and Decker University on the first day and sat through a few Black and Decker presentations that were both interesting and influencing. I met a diverse group of other recruits that were from all over the United States. We all went to ESPN Gamezone the last night before the interviews, which was fun and relaxing. This was a time to interact with the other recruits and also talk with some of the recruiters. The next morning consisted of three interviews. I was focused and determined to perform well in each one. My motivation and determination set me apart from the competition.

I chose Black and Decker for various reasons. The Black and Decker culture really fits with who I am. Integrity, teamwork, leadership, attitude, results and the people are all part of Black and Decker’s culture. When I started looking for employment I was not only looking for a job, but a career as well. Black and Decker’s training program will build my foundation for my future.

The minute Black and Decker employees entered Dr. Tony Peloso's marketing class, I wanted to be a part of the company. I loved what the company does and the freedom its employees have in doing their jobs. I started interviewing on October 17th and my last interview was on November 14th, 2005. I was just excited and I concentrated on expressing that during my interviews. The interviewers could see by my experience that I was naturally a hard worker, but I needed to show them that I was a great match for Black and Decker.

Thank goodness they saw that and I got the call on Tuesday, November 22nd offering me a job. It was the greatest day of my life. I have not come down from that high yet. Now I am moving to Seattle and starting my career as a Black and Decker Retail Specialist where my main responsibilities will be to drive sales and build relationships with one of Black and Decker’s key customers, Home Depot.

Thank you Dr. Peloso and thank you Black and Decker.
