Strategic Marketing and Services Leadership Specialization

The Strategic Marketing and Services Leadership (SMSL) specialization prepares graduates for challenging leadership positions in marketing management including services management, brand management, customer relationship management, e-commerce management, and a variety of other areas. As corporate growth and profitability are more than ever driven by services, our graduates receive training that positions them to be on the cutting edge of the new economy. Built upon a strong foundation that blends marketing strategy with services management, the Strategic Marketing and Services Leadership curriculum delivers distinctive knowledge and skills sought by firms across industries that are using service as a basis for competitive advantage. Emphasizing a customer focus as the centerpiece of the curriculum, the goal of the program is to create market-driven managers who deliver superior customer solutions and forge enduring and profitable customer relationships. The SMSL specialization is fueled by the expertise of the W. P. Carey School's internationally respected Center for Services Leadership. The Center’s dozens of Fortune 500 partner firms are active in sponsoring applied projects for students and hiring our graduates

Strategic Marketing and Services Leadership Graduates Have Distinctive Skills Employers Seek. These Include:

  • Managing and developing product and service brands, especially through optimizing customer service and relationships.
  • Developing and implementing customer relationship management strategies throughout product and customer lifecycles.
  • Determining potential for new products and services through knowledge of customer preferences and new product development processes.
  • Using databases and market research to assess the return on marketing investments, as well as develop customer loyalty programs, brand strategies, and e-commerce initiatives.
  • Managing and optimizing e-commerce marketing strategies and programs.
