Prerequisite Courses

Candidates entering the Master of Accountancy (MACC) degree program should possess course work which comprises a common body of knowledge in accounting. Students with an undergraduate accounting degree will have likely fulfilled the prerequisites. All prerequisites must be completed prior to entering the MACC program.  In general, work experience cannot be used as a substitute for most prerequisites.

All international transcripts must be submitted to the Division of Graduate Studies and prerequisite coursework will be determined at the time of application.

The prerequisites for the MACC (indicated by ASU Tempe course number and title) are listed below along with additional information.

Preference is given to candidates who have an accounting undergraduate degree.

ACC 231 Uses of Accounting Information I (Financial Accounting)

ACC 241 Uses of Accounting Information II (Managerial Accounting)

ACC 315/340 External Reporting I/Intermediate Financial Accounting

ACC 440 External Reporting II/Intermediate Financial Accounting

ACC 450 Principles of Auditing

ACC 430 Tax and Business Decisions
